Native launch and weather intelligence
Launch confidence for real-world water conditions.
RampCast helps boaters and anglers quickly assess launch usability, near real-time weather context, and public advisories before heading out. It is being built in native code for Apple and Android with a focus on speed, reliability, privacy, and practical use at the ramp.
Built for serious use, not app-store clutter
Native Apps
RampCast is being developed as a native experience for both Apple and Android rather than a quick wrapper or throwaway cross-platform shell.
Near Real-Time Weather
When premium weather is unlocked, the goal is actionable station-based weather that is generally within about plus or minus 15 minutes, subject to source cadence, upstream reporting, and live conditions.
Privacy First
The creator went out of his way to avoid unnecessary third-party SDKs and spyware-style app behavior. RampCast is meant to be useful, not invasive.
No Ads. Ever.
RampCast is not being built as an advertising surface. There are no ads, and there will never be ads.
What RampCast focuses on
Launch Status
Elevation-driven launch readiness, thresholds, and trend context built for faster go/no-go decisions.
Weather Signals
Station-based weather context with source attribution, microclimate awareness, and advisory integration.
Public Advisories
NPS and related safety alerts to surface closures, restrictions, and conditions that impact access.
Growth plan
RampCast is launching with a reservoir-first footprint, but it is not hard-coded to one lake. The goal is broad Columbia River coverage first, then expansion across Washington reservoirs, then the Pacific Northwest, and ultimately state by state until the lower 48 and Alaska are covered.
Founder note
Brandon originally wanted to give RampCast away for free. Then the math showed up: Apple is $100 a year just to stay in the room, Android is another $25 to get in the door, and there are still ongoing cloud costs and the usual stack of technical drudgery that somehow follows even the simplest useful app.
So the honest goal is simple: earn the money back, maybe make a little extra, buy his wife a shiny ring, and perhaps justify a new Garmin head unit along the way. That is about as honest as it gets.
The premium weather layer exists to keep the product sustainable without turning it into an ad machine.
