RampCast Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 23, 2026
1. The Short Version
RampCast was built to help you understand boat-ramp conditions and weather without turning you into a product. We went out of our way to keep spyware-style SDKs and ad-tech out of this app. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use creepy advertising trackers, and we do not want more data than we actually need to make the product work.
2. What We Actually Process
- Location on your device: if you grant location permission, the app can use your device location on-device to help pick the nearest launch and weather station. Your coordinates are not sent to RampCast servers for that selection flow.
- Local app storage: RampCast stores some app data locally on your device, such as your selected reservoir, selected launch, selected weather station, app settings, and cached last-known readings. This is used so the app can reopen quickly and remember your preferences.
- Operational request metadata: requests to the RampCast backend and website can produce operational logs and security metadata at the edge, including IP-derived context used for reliability, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and rate limiting.
- Support emails: if you send us a bug report, feature request, or privacy request by email, we receive and retain that message so we can respond and keep support history.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use advertising profiling or third-party marketing SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not operate user accounts or store profile data for ordinary app use at this time.
4. Public Data Providers
RampCast displays water, weather, advisory, and related conditions from public data sources such as NOAA, NWS, USGS, NPS, and similar federal, state, or local public providers as coverage expands. RampCast uses those sources to present useful conditions data. RampCast does not send those agencies your personal identity for normal app use.
5. Children's Privacy
RampCast is a utility app for boaters and anglers and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app does not currently use user accounts, we do not actively collect personal profile data from children. If a child under 13 contacts us by email and we learn that fact, we will delete that email and address where legally required.
6. Retention
Data stored locally on your device remains there until you remove the app, clear your device data, or change your settings. Operational logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, reliability, and legal compliance. Support and privacy emails may be retained for issue tracking, response history, and legal obligations unless deletion is required or granted.
7. Security
We use reasonable industry-standard safeguards, including HTTPS, edge security controls, least-privilege credentials, and abuse protections. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Control
- You can revoke location access at any time through your Apple or Android device settings.
- You can continue using RampCast without location permission, although some convenience features may require manual selection.
- You can request deletion of prior support or privacy emails where legally permitted by contacting us.
9. Contact & Deletion
For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact privacy@rampcast.app.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this policy over time. Material updates will be reflected by the effective date shown above.
11. Terms and Liability
Use of RampCast is also governed by our Terms and Liability Disclaimer, including limitations on data accuracy and liability. Conditions on the water can change quickly. Use your own judgment.
